Roles

There are lots of roles to take on when helping with Open Clip Art Library. Immediately, you can help us by contributing artwork, helping with submissions and by helping add features + keeping this site live.

Artist

Being an artist means uploading and reworking other clip art on the site regularly.

Participating begins working actively in the community.

Upload Lots of Clipart

  • The Name is the file display name ... not the author's name. It is what everyone will see the clipart as.
  • Having a good description of the clipart is highly recommended.
  • If there is nudity, coarse language, sexual references or other non-suitable material in the clipart, please tick the NSFW checkbox. Open Clipart Library does not censor uploads, and there may be things that are not suitable for the younger audience. Having the NSFW tag will help the clipart to be properly tagged and categorized, enabling a safety "net" for younger eyes.

If this is your first time using OCAL then you've come to the right place for information! If you want to download clipart, you do not even need to register! All you need to do is:

  1. Left-Click on the Browse button,
  2. Find something you want to download,
  3. Left-Click on the clipart. You'll be taken to the individual clipart's page.
  4. Left-Click on the "Download files" link.
  5. Choose the format you want, and follow the onscreen instructions.
  6. Enjoy!

Librarian

How to be a Librarian.

We really really need more librarians! If you have been a member of OCAL for some time, and want to give back to the community, becoming a librarian is a great way to help out! It's on a different level than contributing clipart, and is more administrative in nature, but can be very rewarding to the right people! The more librarians we have to take care of OCAL's clipart and artists, the better the Library becomes. Please consider joining up as a Librarian!

  2. File at least 1 bug. (Launchpad Bug Tracker)
  3. Check at least 1 piece of clipart.
  4. File at least 1 detailed feature request.
  5. Participate on the project mailing list, chat channel and community.

Developer

How to be a Developer.

We are in constant need of people to help with PHP programming. If you are experienced with PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript or other web languages, please get in touch with us. If you are able to help, we might even give you a cookie! ... /emotewink

Due to the many needs of OCAL, and the many varying areas where you can help, and depending on your level of involvment, you will need to specifically contact us, requesting to become a developer/programmer of OCAL. Use our maillng list to first contact us, or try to catch us on IRC.
